Kotzk
קוצק
Kotzk was founded by Rebbe Menachem Mendel Morgenstern, the leading talmid of Reb Bunim of Peshischa, who led his chassidim first from Tomashov and then from Kotzk with an uncompromising demand for truth. After his passing most chassidim went to the Chiddushei HaRim of Ger, while a large group stayed in Kotzk with his eldest son Reb Dovid. Reb Dovid's descendants led courts in Pilov, Sokolov, Lukov and Lomaz until the Holocaust, and a Sokolov-Kotzk court was later re-established in Eretz Yisroel.
Began inTomashov (1827), then Kotzk (Kock), Poland, from 1829
