Skulen
סקולען
Skulen takes its name from the Bessarabian town where Reb Eliezer Zusia Portugal succeeded his father as Rav while still a youth, later moving to Czernowitz and Bucharest, where he sheltered hundreds of war orphans. After imprisonment by the Romanian communists he and his only son, Reb Yisroel Avrohom, came to America in 1960, where the court took shape. Since 2019 the line has been led by Reb Yisroel Avrohom's sons and grandsons from several cities.
