His Final Day
On the last day of his life the Avnei Nezer rose early, and his son and family gathered at his bedside. His condition had worsened rapidly since the passing of his wife, and they saw that he was breathing his last. He motioned to them to help him, prepared himself and purified himself, and put on his tefillin for the last time.
As he davened Shemoneh Esrei he grew weaker, and during the berachah of mekabetz nidchei amo Yisroel, he motioned to them to remove his tefillin. A light of peace and tranquility shone from him as he said this berachah, and he passed away with a heavenly kiss.
