Why the Rebbe Wept
TefillahRefuah
Rav Dovid's son once fell gravely ill. Anxious for his welfare, the townspeople gathered in the shul to pray for his recovery, visited his bedside, and spared no expense in hiring the most expert physicians.
When the son recovered in due time, they expected to find their Rebbe, Rav Dovid, rejoicing. Instead they found him weeping bitterly. Sensing their amazement, he said, "When my son fell ill, everyone was concerned, and they prayed and did whatever was necessary until he was well. And if any other person is sick, no one makes a stir about it, and people do not pay nearly that much attention to him. Now, is that not something to weep over?"
