One Yom Kippur, in the middle of Mussaf, the Rimanover Rebbe suddenly banged his machzor shut. After davening he explained his action to the perplexed chassidim. Rav Mendel had been trying to have in mind the kavonos of the Kohen Godol on Yom Kippur, and because he was so young, the Rebbe feared that it would harm him.
