The Aliyah of the Tochachah

It is told that Rav Nachum once spent Shabbos with the Baal Shem Tov. It was Shabbos Parshas Bechukosai, when the curses of the Tochachah are read. To Rav Nachum's surprise, he was called up for the aliyah that contains the Tochachah, and the Baal Shem Tov himself was the baal koreh.

As the Baal Shem Tov began to read, Rav Nachum felt terrible pain and sickness through his whole body. But with each verse the pain left another part of his body, and by the end of the aliyah he was completely healed. His acceptance of the great rebuke had brought him healing of both soul and body, refuas hanefesh and refuas haguf.
