The Cloud Before the Ramak's Coffin

It is told that, as the Ramak's levaya made its way through Tzfas, everyone wept bitterly. The bearers carried the coffin to the cemetery and then kept walking for a long while, until they reached a certain spot. Turning to the crowd behind them, they said, "We will bury him here, beside one of the greatest sages of Israel."

The Ari stopped them. "Do not bury him here," he cried. "The cloud that has been going before his coffin has continued on its way. Surely it will show where the Ramak wishes to be buried."

All who heard him were stunned. In that moment they understood who the Ramak's successor was.
