Tzedakah & chesedShabbos & Yom Tov

A story ofRav Moshe HaLevi Soferהרב משה בן יצחק סופר

The Bnei Yissoschor writes: "When I was a young lad, I used to sometimes attend to the renowned tzaddik, Rav Moshe Sofer of Pshevorsk. He was well known as a baal madreigah (of lofty spiritual stature) and a baal ruach hakodesh. He had the custom to keep leftover cakes and sweets that had been baked and prepared in honor of Shabbos. When an important guest visited during the week, he would honor him with these delicacies, calling them 'shirei menuchos' (leftovers of the mincha offering)."
