Eighteen Undershirts
Rav Sinai was known for his chessed even in his early years. As a newlywed he was still living with his in-laws in Melitz, and his Rebbetzin noticed that some of his garments were missing. Before the wedding Rav Sinai had been given eighteen undershirts, and now he had only ten.
He explained to his wife that he had seen a person at the mikveh who had only one tattered undershirt to his name, and so he had given him some of his own.
