Respect for the Shevatim
Refuah
Abraham Geiger first met Rav Yaakov in 1829, when Geiger was a student. He described a school examination at which a teacher remarked that Yosef's brothers had behaved in an unbrotherly manner.
Rav Yaakov was present and rebuked the teacher indignantly. It was wrong, he said, to speak ill of the holy Shevatim of Yisroel.
