Returning the Salary
A story ofRav Yitzchak Kaduriהרב יצחק בן יחזקאל זאב דיבה קדוריProfile ›
Rav Yaakov Adas told how he heard from Rav Yitzchak's son, Rav Dovid Kaduri, that when Rav Kaduri left Yeshivas Shoshanim LeDovid for Beit E"l, he took a princely sum of money, handed it to Rav Dovid, and asked him to pass it on to the hanhalah of Shoshanim LeDovid.
He explained his reason to his son. "When they paid me my salary, it was for my learning and teaching. But how can I be sure I earned my full wage? Surely there were times I came late or was absent and missed some of my allotted hours of learning. If so, I owe them this money to cover any doubts."
