Zevulun's Portion

Zevulun once complained to Hashem about his portion. "Master of the World," he said, "to my brothers You gave fields and vineyards, but to me You gave mountains and hills. To my brothers You gave lands, but to me You gave seas and rivers."

Hashem replied, "They will all need your chilazon (the sea creature used to dye techeiles, the blue thread of tzitzis)." Zevulun asked, "Master of the World, who can ensure that I will be paid for this service?" Hashem answered, "Whoever takes the chilazon from you without paying will not succeed in his endeavor."
