The Plain Meaning of the Text
In his commentary on Tanach the Ibn Ezra follows peshat, the plain meaning of the verse, in preference to the homiletic, allegoric approach of aggadah. Many of his comments deal with problems of grammar and syntax. They are written in an extremely terse style, often interspersed with obscure allusions, so that later generations wrote many commentaries to explain him.
