Will as the First Emanation

Rav Azriel's teacher, Rav Yitzchok the Blind, held that the first spiritual quality to flow out of the Ayn Sof, the Infinite One, was Divine Thought. Rav Azriel taught otherwise: the first emanation was Divine Will. In his view, the first revelation of Hashem's infinite Being came through an act of will and not through an act of the intellect.
