Time Left for Yiras Shomayim

Torah learning

A teaching ofRav Chaim Halberstamהרב חיים בן אריה לייבוש הלברשטאם

The Divrei Chaim used to say that the Rambam’s heart burned with a devotional fire for Hashem, and that he was always aware of how a Jew should behave. The Rambam saw that most people would never have time to set aside for learning how to acquire yiras shomayim, since first they would have to study the whole Torah. Understanding this difficulty, he set out to write his fourteen-volume masterwork, the Mishneh Torah, also known as Yad HaChazakah. He wrote it so that halacha could be learned in a straightforward way. With a sefer from which to learn more easily how to act, people would now have time left to study how to acquire yiras shomayim and dveykus.
