Raising the Point of Free Will
A teaching ofRav Eliyohu Eliezer Desslerהרב אליהו אליעזר בן ראובן דוב דסלר
Rav Dessler taught that every person has a Nekudas HaBechirah, the one point at which his choice is truly tested. A person who keeps Torah faithfully has no struggle over keeping kosher, but he may be tempted to rely on an unreliable hechsher, while a person far from observance may struggle over whether to eat non-kosher food at all. Each time a person chooses good at his own point of struggle, that point rises, and his task is to keep raising it.
