The minister who grieves for the king's son
Children & shidduchimAhavas Yisroel
The Maggid told a parable of a king who sent his son into exile. When a loyal minister grieved openly over the prince's suffering, his pain aroused the king's own hidden compassion, and the king's mercy flowed to all his children. The tzaddik plays this role for Klal Yisroel: by sincerely feeling the exile of the Shechinah and of every Jew, he awakens Divine mercy for the whole people and helps call them back home.
