The Bow and Arrow of Lag BaOmer

Rav Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov, author of Bnei Yissoschor, heard from Rav Menachem Mendel the reason for the minhag of young students shooting a bow and arrow on Lag BaOmer. It is known (Yerushalmi Berachos 9:2) that in the days of Rav Shimon bar Yochai the rainbow was not seen. On the day of his ascension we mark this by commemorating the absence of the rainbow with a bow and arrow.
