God Has Not Left Us

In The Hope of Israel Rav Menashe wrote that Jewish history shows that Hashem has not left His people. If one ruler persecutes the Jews, another receives them courteously, and if one banishes them, another invites them with a thousand privileges, as various princes of Italy, the King of Denmark and the Duke of Savoy had done. He pointed out that those republics which admit the Jews flourish and grow in trade.
