To see the good in our friends

Rebbe Elimelech's 'Prayer before Prayer', printed in many siddurim, asks Hashem to protect us from jealousy and to place in our hearts the ability to see the good qualities of others and not their faults. It asks that we speak to each other in ways that are pleasing before Hashem and that no hatred ever arise between friends. For the Rebbe, preparing to pray means first preparing to love.
