The middle path
The right way, the Rambam writes, is the middle measure in every character trait: not hot-tempered nor emotionless, not stingy nor wasteful, not frivolous nor gloomy. A person should regularly weigh his traits and direct them toward the center. This is the path of the wise and is what the Torah calls 'walking in His ways.' (He makes exceptions for pride and anger, from which one should distance oneself completely.)
