Torah im Derech Eretz

Rav Shimshon taught that Torah reaches its fullest strength when it is joined with involvement in the world. He first applied this principle, which he expressed in the motto Torah im Derech Eretz, in the school he founded in Emden. In Frankfurt it shaped the schools he organized, where thorough Jewish education was taught together with those parts of secular learning that the Torah accepts.
