Telling Stories of Tzaddikim
ParnassahShabbos & Yom TovSimcha
The Sar Sholom said that people claim that telling tales of the Baal Shem Tov on Motzoei Shabbos is a segulah for parnassah, and that telling tales of the Rebbe Reb Melech of Lizhensk is a segulah for yiras Shomayim. He said this was wrong in three ways: it is not only for Motzoei Shabbos but for any time; not only for parnassah but for all good things; and not only for stories of the Baal Shem Tov or Reb Melech but for stories of all tzaddikim, even about himself. It is told that when the Belzer Rebbe's gabbai laughed at hearing this, the Sar Sholom explained how the segulah works. When we speak of tzaddikim, they have great pleasure in the World of Truth. They do not wish to accept this joy for free, which is called the bread of shame, and so they repay us by sending down an abundance of blessing, such as parnassah, yiras Shomayim and all kinds of yeshuos (salvations).
