Torah Study Leads to Action
Torah learning
Like the Baal Shem Tov, Rav Yaakov Yosef teaches that the primary purpose of Torah study is to bring a person to action, to the correct fulfillment of the Torah's commandments. The goal is therefore to know the halachos, and not to dwell on sharp pilpul and subtle mental gymnastics that lead nowhere practical, for that is not called Torah lishmah.
