Delighting in the Glow of the Shechinah

A teaching ofRav Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstamהרב יקותיאל יהודה בן צבי הירש הלברשטאם
In one of his weekly Chumash Rashi shiurim, the Rebbe explained how far we are from understanding the phrase “to delight in the glow of the Shechinah.” It means nothing to someone who is so physical and coarse that he takes pleasure in food and drink. Such a level belongs only to true, holy tzaddikim, who have divested themselves of all trace of physicality and cut off all earthly ties. He gave the example of the Ohr HaChaim HaKodosh, who, when he spoke of dveikus to Hashem, would list example after example in the language of love, devotion and longing. If you study his words, the Rebbe said, you can see that his holy soul would go out when he spoke about love of Hashem.
