Torah First, Lodgings Second

A teaching ofRav Yeruchem Levovitzהרב ירוחם בן אברהם ליבוביץ
Talmidim of the Mir who had become rabbonim, or had taken other positions of Torah instruction, often returned to the yeshiva for Elul or the Yomim Noraim. They would arrange their lodging first and then come to the yeshiva. Rav Yeruchem answered with a moshol (parable) from real life. When he visited the spas at Marienbad in Czechoslovakia, new arrivals would first bathe in the mineral-rich, healing waters, and only afterwards arrange their lodgings. With Torah, he said, it should be no different.
