Guard the Unity of the Community
Rav Yihya Yitzchak Halevi refused to see his community broken into rival camps over ideology, especially over practices that many of Yemen's elders had long kept. Even when he and Rav Yihya al-Qafih stood on opposite sides of the dispute over Kabbalah and secular studies, he held to the established customs and norms of Yemenite Jewry, and the ruling that came out of the dispute stated that neither side may force the other to change its way.
