Dovid HaMelech and the Path of Teshuva

Rav Yisrael Dov of Vilednik points out a precise reading in the words of Chazal. Dovid HaMelech did not sin; rather, he was mistaken. By the hand of Heaven he was caused to err, in order to raise up the fallen souls of Yisrael in the generations to come. This is what Chazal mean when they say that Dovid HaMelech fell in that incident only in order to teach us how to do teshuva. All those who have fallen into pgam habris (damage to the bris) can receive their tikkun through Dovid HaMelech. Through Tehillim in particular, a person is brought to teshuva, and that brings about the tikkun.
