Teshuvah, Tefillah and Tzedakah in Days of Privation
TefillahTzedakah & chesedParnassahTeshuvah
In a letter to his chassidim before the Yomim Noraim of 5702, the Rebbe noted that Teshuvah, Tefillah and Tzedakah correspond to Tzom, Kol and Mamon, which share the same gematria. In days of privation, he asked, how can a person merit to stand before the King of the world? Through teshuvah and fasting? Heaven forbid. It is a mitzvah for each person to eat and keep himself healthy and strong. Through tzedakah? We have no money, we are impoverished. All that remains is davening. We have nothing left but to call out to our King with our voice, through tefillah, and beseech Him.
