Why the Techeiles Is a Process
The avodah of the psil techeiles, the blue thread of the tzitzis, is that it reminds a person of the ocean, then of the firmament, the rakiah, and then of the Kisei HaKavod. Why this whole process? Why not simply carry a sign reminding him to think of the Kisei HaKavod? Because a person would become used to a sign right away, and in time it would have no impact. An avodah, a step-by-step thought process, leaves a lasting impact. This is the nature of a person, and the Torah was well aware of it.
