The Love of Other Jews
Tefillah
It is told that when Rav Avrohom Dov traveled to take leave of the Chernobyler Maggid, all the Maggid's sons were present except Rav Aharon. On the way back a wagon wheel broke and the coach was stuck, and soon it was nightfall. As they stood davening Mincha, Rav Aharon's own coach pulled up beside them and he joined them. The Bas Ayin saw the hand of Heaven in this mishap. The wheel broke and delayed his journey, he used to explain, so that he could take leave of Rav Aharon of Chernobyl before he left.
After the tefillos Rav Aharon approached and extended his hand to say shalom. “Avritcher Rav, tell me please, why do people make such a big deal out of you?”
“It is because of my love for other Jews,” the Bas Ayin answered.
“I also love other Jews, but the question is where to find such Jews to love.”
“That is the difference between me and you,” said Rav Avrohom Dov. “I have them already and you do not.”
