Who Has Olom Hazeh?

Torah learningSimcha

A story ofRav Avrohom Yehuda Leib HaKohen Schwartzהרב אברהם יהודה לייב בן פנחס זעליג שווארץ

At the age of twenty, Rav Yudele Greenfeld of Semihali, later the author of Kol Yehuda, Shu"t Maharshag and Zehav Sheva, learned under the Kol Arye. He once told how, during a winter night of learning, his tired eyes began to close from weariness. It was almost dawn, and they had spent the whole long, cold night delving into Torah and its secrets.

The Kol Arye grabbed his beloved talmid and shook him awake, calling out with joy, “Tell me, Yudele, who has Olom Hazeh? Do you think the farmer sleeping with his horse in the stable has a taste of this world? Or is it us, sitting here and revealing chiddushim and pilpulim in Tosfos? Only we have Olom Hazeh.”
