The Stain of Sin
Teshuvah
On the day Rav Mas'oud passed away and was buried, a terrible thing occurred. The local non-Jews, jealous of the honor and respect shown to the Rav at his large levaya, opened his freshly dug grave and dishonored the body. The family was greatly upset and disturbed.
That night Rav Mas'oud appeared to his son Rav Dovid in a dream and said, "Know, my son, that you should not be troubled by this. Among those who attended to me after I died was a Jew whose name was such-and-such, and he washed my feet during the tahara. On that day he had committed such-and-such a sin, and its stain besmirched me and caused this to happen."
After the dream, Rav Dovid looked into the matter, and the dream was found to be true.
