Words That Came True
A chassid once visited Rav Shmuel Mordechai Portugal, the son of the Skulener Rebbe, and asked Reb Moshe to give a berachah to the father of the yungerman who stood before him. Reb Moshe replied, "Sholom al Yisroel," hinting at the Skulener Rebbe's name, a person he had never met.
The same chassid had children after his wedding, girls but no boys. Once he visited with his brother-in-law, who asked Reb Moshe to bless him with a baby boy. "He has a long way to go," was the answer. It was true. His first boy was born only twenty years after his chasunah.
During Tishrei, people spoke about the condition of the Satmar Rav. Reb Moshe interjected that "they will let him live out the year," and so it was. The Satmar Rav passed away only on the 26th of Av, at the end of that year.
