You Saved a Life
Torah learning
Rav Moshe Shemuel Shapira, director of the Rav Chaim Berlin Yeshiva, recounted the following. An emissary from the yeshivah of Rav Zalman Sender once came to see Rav Tzvi Hirsch. It was a very harsh winter day, and the man was trembling from head to toe with the cold. He wanted to buy fur-lined shoes to warm his feet, but he did not know where to go.
Rav Tzvi Hirsch asked Rav Moshe Shemuel to show the man where he could buy them. When Rav Moshe Shemuel returned, the Rav said to him, "You cannot imagine what a great mitzvah you performed. You really saved a life."
