Mazal Tov, a Son Was Born

It is told that Rav Yaakov Leizer was once seated at a simcha when a chassid came to him. The man's wife was in a difficult labor, and he asked the Rebbe to daven that she should give birth easily.

The Rebbe glanced at his watch and said, "Mazal tov. She has already given birth to a baby boy."

Rav Reich asked the Rebbe whether he was not afraid of ayin hara (the evil eye) when he displayed such open ruach hakodesh (divine inspiration). Rav Yaakov Leizer answered, "We need to demonstrate the power of Torah in this world to others."
