On another occasion the Sefas Emes said to the same chassid, “You can still be a Jew.” He meant that there was still time for him to make something of himself.

His sharp words of rebuke entered the chassid like a healing elixir. In that year he left behind all worldly pursuits and desires and immersed himself in Torah and tefillah.
