In Place of One, Two
Children & shidduchimShabbos & Yom TovSimcha
It is told that Rav Duvid Moshe of Kretshnif Rechovot was sorely pained when he lost a son. During the shivah, the Kretshnifer ate the Shabbos meals with his father-in-law, Rav Chaim Mordechai of Nadvorna Bnei Brak.
As the Rebbe sang Azamer BiShvachin, the Arizal’s evening song, he came to the words “ve’al chada tartei,” “in place of one, two,” and pointed at Rav Duvid Moshe.
Later Rav Duvid Moshe had twin sons, Rav Yisroel Nissan and Rav Eliezer Zev. Many saw this as an open berachah: in the place of the one who had passed away, two, twin boys.
