A teaching ofRav Dov Berish Weidenfeldהרב דוב בעריש בן יעקב וידנפלד
Speaking at the cornerstone laying of Kochav MiYaakov, the Tchebiner Rav explained the statement of the Yerushalmi in Berachos: "One who makes his Torah itim is considered as if he breached the covenant." Itim means times, and Chazal are usually understood to be speaking of one who learns Torah only now and then, from time to time. But the Tchebiner Rav explained: "Whoever says nishtanu ha'itim, that times have changed and nowadays we do not need to teach our children and raise them to learn Torah, has breached the bris, because the Torah is eternal and not limited to one period of history."
