Return to the Roots
Refuah
In Minchas Yehuda, Rav Yehuda called for a return to the roots. Hebrew was to be restored as the national language of the Jewish people. The land was to be recovered by purchase, as Avrohom Avinu bought the cave and field of Machpeilah in Chevron. Farming was to be the foundation of renewed settlement. His reasons were broader than earning a living: the Jewish people had grown distant from physical labor, from nature and from their ancestral land, and he wished to restore that bond.
