A Teacher Remembers His Students

Humility

A teaching ofRav Yaakov HaLevi Rudermanהרב יעקב יצחק הלוי בן יהודה רודרמן

Rav Ruderman often cited the verse in Doniel, “And those who make others wise will shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who bring many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever,” as a sign of his love and pride in talmidim who became teachers of Torah. He would quote the Maharsha’s explanation that the stars and the moon remain overhead all day though no one sees them, and so too a teacher remembers and thinks about his students even years later.
