Love of Hashem

His eyes shone and his face glowed whenever Rav Ben Tzion spoke of loving Hashem. He told his students how to strengthen yiras Shomayim, and he said that people sometimes search for mitzvos without realizing that hundreds lie within reach. One who guards his eyes from forbidden sights earns hundreds of mitzvos at once.

Once he had recovered from the stroke, he confided to his brother-in-law, Rav Reuven Sharbani, that while ill he had not worried about how long he would live. His concern was whether he would be able to face the Heavenly Court and answer for his deeds.
