S.O.S.
Torah learning
Rav Ben Tzion guarded every moment of Torah study. While walking to yeshiva one morning, Rav Ben Tzion noticed a student reading a notice on a billboard. He suddenly called out “S.O.S., S.O.S.” and kept walking. The student ran after him and asked, out of breath, who needed help.
“The whole world,” Rav Ben Tzion told him. If Torah goes unlearned, the world will be destroyed. Suppose you drove an ambulance, or were a paramedic rushing to rescue someone; would you pause along the way to read the newest notices? A ben Torah has a far more urgent job, because the world exists only in the merit of Torah.
