A Volume of Chessed Stories
While preparing his multivolume biography of Rav Chaim Soloveitchik, Rav Shimon Yosef Meller discovered that he had gathered enough stories about Rav Chaim’s acts of chessed alone to fill a separate volume. He worried that devoting a whole volume to the subject would weaken the picture he was building of Rav Chaim as a master Torah scholar.
Rav Dovid saw it differently. “Every story that isn’t published is a shame,” he said.
