The Three Shepherds
After the shloshim, Rav Meir Mazuz shlita related in his hesped for Rav Shmuel that Rav Eton Shabtai had appeared in a dream to a tzaddik of the generation. In the dream he revealed the secret of a pasuk in Tehillim 45, together with the passage in Taanis 9a that cites the verse "And I will cut off the three shepherds in one month."
In our own time as well, he said, three shepherds have gone: Rav Shmuel Derzi, Rav Yitzchok Kaduri and Rav Eton Shabtai, and they passed away in that order. The Rav told the tzaddik in the dream that this means the time of teshuvah for Am Yisroel has come.
