The two wrestlers
Simcha
Overcoming the yetzer hara, the Alter Rebbe teaches, is like a wrestling match. If one wrestler is sluggish and heavy-hearted, he will lose even if he is stronger. So too, sadness and gloom make a person spiritually lazy. To win the inner battle one needs joy and alacrity. Regret over wrongdoing has its proper time, but it should lead to renewed joy, not despair.
