Rav Meir Dan rejected the wish of some rabbanim to present themselves as politically unaffiliated. He asked how a rav who fulfills his Torah mission can see himself as unaffiliated once full loyalty to the Torah has become a matter of political parties. What rav, he asked, can remain indifferent to whether the Torah or other forces, national or class interests, will determine every path and method of the life of the nation?
