Joy Breaks Through the Locked Gates
Simcha
Chazal teach (Berachos 32b) that all the gates are locked except the gates of tears. The Yid Hakadosh said that the gates of tears are left open because otherwise our tears could not enter. Tears usually come from sadness, which has a hard time passing through locked gates. But with joy, he said, "kennen mir lecheren di farshlissener toyeren," we can bore a hole and break through any locked gate.
