Davening with Kavona
TefillahShabbos & Yom Tov
Rav Yehuda Zev teaches that kavona in tefillah is something to ask Hashem for. Before beginning his morning davening, he would ask Hashem to help him daven with kavona. To reach that goal, he recited every tefillah from a text, even Asher Yotzar, which one says several times a day, and he said it with the feeling others bring to Ne'ila on Yom Kippur. He did the same with berochos. He kept a card in his pocket listing the berochos for food, and before each one he would say a short preparation such as, "I am about to utter the blessing of shehakol."
