The Diamond in the Garbage
Humility
Tzaddikim offered a parable to explain how Rav Menachem Mendel could carry himself with such majesty while being truly humble and brokenhearted.
A man owned a valuable diamond and feared it would be stolen. He hid it in his garbage can, in a place so filthy that no one would think of searching there. In the same way, the Vitebsker hid his humility under a false covering of majesty and pride.
